I don’t know what strange beverage Kamel ordered at Starbucks, but I had the same and it was delicious. Then we talked about street style, then about Italian cuisine and everything else, and our conversation was interrupted only by an all dressed in red girl apparition, who Kamel suddenly photographed (this did not seem to be strange to the red girl).
Why being struck by that girl (beautiful) and not by another one? I asked him. We are in Marais and everyone looks so beautiful and perfect!
That’s the point, Kamel answered. What seduces me, it’s not perfection, it bags, this moment’s fashion. What really strucks me, it’s a peculiarity, an attitude, an expression, in short all this together. I’m not looking for the perfect woman’s picture as women’s magazines mean it, with the last it bag or must have, I do not take pictures of clothes-hook, but of human beings. My filter is that of generosity I feel in a person, who I feel she will play the game, that will allow me to give her nice pictures. To me, the secret of beauty is not in the object, but in happiness, because style is the only dress of personality.
In short Kamel is not satisfied by immortalizing just a look. What gives charm to a dress, is the personality of the one who wears it. That’s why he decides to humanize fashion with a focused-on-individuals street style.
I don’t know about you, but people like that reassure me. Such a benevolence is not superfluous in fashion’s world, and gives photos more beauty!
