I have a casual relationship with make-up: I put my make-up on depending on my mood and the time I’ve got. I also put my make-up on depending on the quantity of coffee I drank and when I did it (the same is true for the way I dress, as I told here). Look how much make-up I put on, and you’ll know if I heard the alarm ring or not. Contrary to some others, I have few cosmetics, and I use them all (I’m a shady one).
Con il trucco, ho un rapporto casuale: mi trucco o meno a secondo dell'umore e del tempo che ho a disposizione. Mi trucco anche in funzione della quantità di caffè che ho bevuto e quando (lo stesso vale per il modo in cui mi vesto, come l'ho raccontato qui). Guardate quanto sono truccata, e saprete se ho sentito la sveglia o meno. Contrariamente a certe però, ho pochi cosmetici, e gli uso tutti (sono una tipa losca).

Lately, I'm receiving many readers' letters who plan a weekend in Turin (good plan!) and who'd like to know some good address to do shopping. I eventually published a little guide about Turin, vintage and shoes (hehe) on Paese che vai, and I illustrated it with the photos I took a Saturday afternoon spent with Miss Cici (who tells us about the walk here, with lots of other photos).
I'm so glad I published a post for Paese che vai, a site which I appreciate for the quality of the researches of her author Sara about the best shops in every Italian city (and in other countries too). Have a look, and say hello to her for me!
A cold january 2009 morning I discovered on L’armadio – which was so young! – a fashion blogger’s comment. A fashion blogger! It wasn’t a proliferating species yet in those times. It spoke about trapezioid dresses, sugary colours, suede decolleté shoes ... she was Benedetta.
Una fredda mattina del gennaio 2009, ho scoperto su L’armadio – che era così giovane! – un commento da parte di una blogger di moda. Una blogger di moda! Non era ancora una specie proliferante all’epoca. Mi parlava di abiti a trapezio, colori zuccherati, scarpe decolleté di velluto… era Benedetta.
Benedetta’s blog was all about details, good textures and perfect cuts. A style made of actual trends matched with grand classics, with a tough of vintage and a masculine influence. And most of all a lot of explications: what an enciclopedic culture!
More than a year after – yep – here I am in Milan to attend at her t-shirts collection presentation...and to get to know her! Can I still use the word “to introduce” in this case?
We met at an art gallery in a beautful liberty building, right in the middle of the week of design. Sioux’s t-shirts look like her blog: delicate but ironic, fashionable but original, and they are succesfull! The installations, cared and refined, were really worth the visit!
And what about Benedetta? Well, we already knew each other! And Alice, with whom I already had some email exchange? The same! Nice and pleasant like I expected!
Oh, Provence is so romantic! People paint their shutters and their 2CV in blue, they illustrate their menus by hand, and I go around Lourmarin, one of the “cent plus beaux villages de France” in my flowered and blue skirt. This has been the first skirt I sewed myself, and it incredibly looks like a skirt (knowing me, I wouldn’t have bet on it).
Ah! Quanto è romantica la Provenza! La gente dipinge le serrande e le 2CV in blu, illustra i menù a mano, e io me ne vado in giro a Lourmarin, uno dei “cent plus beaux villages de France” nella mia gonna fiorita e blu. Questa è stata la prima gonna che ho cucito, ed incredibilmente assomiglia ad una gonna (conoscendomi, la probabilità era piuttosto bassa).
Do you remember: beginning of September, I was full of good proposals and I announced I wanted to learn to sew. You gave me lots of advices, I promised many updatings about my future brilliant progresses, and then… I never said a word about it. The point is, there was not much to say (who is lazy?)
The day I decided to switch from “I sew old fabrics pieces” to “I sew a skirt for me”, I did not trust myself that much. So I got this fabric from a dress with an absurd shape, hoping I would not transform it in something uglier, and hop! I started to cut-measure-oh-no-I-should-have-measured-before-cutting with enthusiast advices from my mother who laughed a lot. I sewed quickly because I had transformed the kitchen in a laboratory just before dinner, and the rest of the family decided to bet on the result of my work to forget hunger.
It was me who won the bet! It resembles a skirt and it’s my size too (the latter achievement is due to a mother’s little help in the end).
Today there are three interesting pieces of information:
Number 1: I wanted a military parka and I’ll never get one! Why? It’s pretty simple: I’ve been looking for a parka in vintage shops for a while and finally, in Aix-en-Provence, I stumbled on a parka of my size and well kept. I was happy! Until I saw Mr. Del Delitto disgusted (really disgusted!) face. It’s not I need Mr. Del Delitto’s approval to buy anything, but I never saw on his face such a disgusted expression! Fare thee well, Parka...
Number 2: disappointed for not having bought my parka, I decided I’d do some shopping on line. And what is my new object of desire? A Pigchic shirt, created by Demetra Dossi, the excellent Pigchic blog author. White with ironic prints and phrases, inspired by the fashion world, they’re unisex t-shirts. But which one to choose? The choice was much harder since yesterday Demetra published the new shirts pictures on her blog...
Number 3: after 15 months of life, L’armadio received its first visit by someone who finds herself on the Chinese territory! 1,3 billion inhabitants, and finally one of them’s come here! Anyway, my emigrant Italian friend who lives in China, could not get on my blog (long live freedom!). Even my idol Bob Dylan’s tour in Bejing and Shangai had beed cancelled because he could send some “forbidden message”! “China is not ready for Bob Dylan”, an Italian newspaper writes. Well, it should hurry up a bit if it would like to be ready someday, because our Bob is not a kid anymore!
I'd like to see you posing with a baguette!!! Isabelle wrote me in a comment a few days ago, while I was joking about French people's caricature, they should always have a baguette in their hands. I haven't forgot it...and here I am with a baguette (not under my ankle, anyway!) in a small Provence village all made of rocks (beautiful Easter holidays!)
Since I like to match my clothes to the places I visit and the breads I eat, here I am in beige, with a red touch.
