A Shaded View On Fashion Film
Marvelous! I thought as I arrived at the inauguration party of A Shaded View On Fashion Film in Milan, last tuesday. I was walking in the street among the usual all-look-alike-cool-girls, when I crossed Palazzo Morando’s door and it seemed to me I was entering Face Hunter’s blog: you’ve got something incredible to put on your head? Polka dot stockings togeher with much-too-short-trousers? Your sons made a necklace for you for Mothers’day, using fishbones? Come to ASVOFF, there’s a lot of people like you!
A Shaded View On Fashion Film is the fashion and style cinema festival conceived by blogger and journalist Diane Pernet (talking about crazy looks, here you are an interesting one) and organized with the cooperation of Vogue Italy and Lancia TrendVisions, which included the launching video of Lancia TrendVisions (realized by Angelo Teardo, inspired by the duo LeitMotiv). There were short movies of one minute length on the theme “light series”, and Miho Kinomura’s “J'ai faim” and Zalba Jabbar’s “William Richard Green” were awarded.

Magnifico! Ho pensato arrivando al party di inaugurazione di A Shaded View On Fashion Film a Milano, martedì scorso. Caminavo per la strada in mezzo alle solite fighette-tutte-uguali, e ad un tratto, passando la porta del Palazzo Morando, mi è sembrato di entrare dentro il blog di Face Hunter: hai una cosa allucinante da mettere sulla testa? Delle calze a pois con dei pantaloni troppo corti? I tuoi figli ti hanno fatto una collana con delle spine di pesci per la festa della mamma? Vieni a ASVOFF, c'è un sacco di gente come te!
A Shaded View On Fashion Film è il festival di cinema di moda e stile pensato dalla blogger e giornalista Diane Pernet (a proposito di look pazzeschi, eccone uno interessante), e organizzato con la collaborazione di Vogue Italia e Lancia TrendVisions, che accoglieva il video di lancio di Lancia TrendVisions (realizzazione: Angelo Teardo, ispirato dal duo LeitMotiv). Erano presentati dei cortometraggi di un minuto sul tema light series, e sono stati premiati “J'ai faim” di Miho Kinomura e “William Richard Green” di Zalba Jabbar.
As soon as I arrived I met FrizziFrizzi’s Cinzia, whom I already met once in Paris last year. Each time I see her (twice, alright, I agree, it’s not enough to draw any conclusion), she’s dressed in a simple way, but with fantastic glasses-bags-bracelets-watches-rings-etc. She’s the woman-of-jewels, according to Garance Doré’s grand theory. This time, she had a child-baloons covered bag, made by Laura Tassielli, that I plan to steal as soon as possible.Then I finally met Erica of Blue is in fashion this year! The great blogger among bloggers, whose collages are the best fashion guide (I beg your pardon, but I promised I’d write an ode to her honor), all dressed in black, very chic and very rock, very nice and very everything, a great girl!
I met Valentina, Chiara, Veronica, Cool and Contagious' bloggers and a lot of other nice and hungry girls: if fashion is about skinny girls in these years, it’s because in these events you can drink but you cannot eat anything: so everybody’s skinny!
Skinny and stylish: here you are some pictures of people who were there (I never recognize anybody but Anna Piaggi because she wears a fishbones necklace made by her nephews). There was Waris-the-perfect-man’s girlfriend, but without Waris (what a pity! He wouldn’t have been the only one with a peculiar hat), some androgine gilrs with Carey Mullingan’s haircut (the next fashion?), and the well-known Miu Miu sandals with the swallow that Nathalie desires, and now I desire too.

Appena arrivata, ho beccato Cinzia di FrizziFrizzi, che avevo già incontrata a Parigi l'anno scorso. Ogni volta che la vedo (due volte in totale, ok non è sufficente per poter generalizzare), è vestita in un modo piuttosto semplice, ma con degli occhiali-scarpe-bracciali-orologi-anelli-borse-ecc geniali. È la donna-dai-gioielli, secondo la grande teoria di Garance Doré. Questa volta, aveva una borsetta ricoperta di palloncini fatta da Laura Tassielli, che conto svaligiare al più presto.E poi ho finalmente conosciuto Erica di Blue is in fashion this year! La grande blogger fra i blogger, di cui i collage sono la migliore guida di moda che ci sia (perdonatemi, ma ieri le ho promesso di scrivere un'ode in suo onore), vestita tutta di nero, molto chic e molto rock, e molto simpatica e molto tutto, insomma una ragazza fantastica!
Ho anche conosciuto Valentina, Chiara, Veronica, le blogger di Cool and Contagious e un sacco di altre ragazze simpatiche e affamate: se è la moda delle magre da anni, è perché in questo genere di eventi c'è da bere ma non da mangiare: così sono magri tutti!
Magri e stilosi: ecco qualche foto di gente che era presente (non riconosco mai nessuno, tranne Anna Piaggi perché ha una collana di spine di pesci fatta dai suoi nipoti). C'era anche la fidanzata di Waris-l'uomo-perfetto, ma senza di Waris (che peccato! Non sarebbe stato il solo ad avere un cappello strano), un bel po' di ragazze androgine con il taglio di capelli di Carey Mullingan (la prossima moda?), e i famosi sandali Miu Miu con le rondine, che concupisce Nathalie, e che ormai concupisco anch'io.

The Mall
I read your comments and...how can I say? You do not lack imagination! Anyway, someone guessed it right (Giulia and Eudoxie!)
Let's sum up: Stella McCartney (I dream Stella McCartney dresses), Yves Saint Laurent (I dream their jackets), Marni (I dream every collection) are...what kind of brands?
Beautiful. Expensive.
Alright. She who has luxury tastes without having the budget, like me, faces a problem called FF (Fashionist Frustration): how to get these highly indispensable clothes without stealing them or selling the soul to the devil? Hehe. Going to a luxury outlet! Ah, sweet oxymoron!
In Tuscany, where my parents are having a holiday right now, there's a luxury outlet, The Mall, where you can find all these super brands and many more, like Dior, Gucci, Valentino, Alexander McQueen etc. All there marvels in the same place! At fabulous prices... no need to say that next time I go to Florence, I'll visit the outlet which is just half an hour drive, and I'll get everything!

Ok. Chi come me ha dei gusti di lusso senza il portamonete adatto, incappa nel problema detto FF (Frustrazione della Fashionista): come procurarsi questi capi altamente indispensabili senza rubarli né vendere la propria anima al diavolo? Hehe. Andando in un outlet di lusso! Ah! Dolce ossimoro!
In Toscana, dove i miei sono in vacanza proprio ora, c'è un outlet del lusso, The Mall, dove si trovano queste firme super lusso e molte altre come Dior, Gucci, Valentino, Alexander McQueen ecc ecc. Tutte queste meraviglie riunite in un solo posto! A dei prezzi favolosi... Inutile dire che la prossima volta che vado a Firenze, faccio un salto all’outlet che si trova a solo mezz’ora, e svaligio tutto!

Larmadio assegna la palma del look a...
Today Euxodie-drawn little Larmadio is the grand jury of Cannes 2010 Festival's looks. You've already seen Larmadio in Dior here, and today she wears her Raffaella Curiel dress. Really the one Evelina Levi Broglio wore at 1967's Scala's first evening!

Larmadio by EudoxieEve G does this better than me, but I like anyway to critic the dresses showed on the red carpet. There is the monstrous (my preferred types), the sugary one, and the trite. This year there are also bride dresses, seen many times at fashion shows, but that leave me puzzled: a bride dress is nice (well, not always), but ... on a bride!
Given the number of awful looks I've seen, let us concentrate on the ones who mad me think "what an idea...".

Eve G lo fa meglio di me, ma mi piace anche criticare gli abiti che sfilano sul tappetto rosso. Ci sono quelli mostruosi (i miei preferiti), quelli sdolcinati, e quelli banali. Quest'anno, ci sono anche i vestiti da sposa, visti parecchio sulle passarelle, ma che mi lasciano un po' perplessa: è bello un vestito da sposa (insomma, non sempre), ma... su una sposa!
Dato il numero di look brutti che ho visto, concentriamoci su quelli che mi hanno fatto dire "ma che idea..."

Up on the white veranda she wears a necktie and a Panama hat
One of these days I should show you all my hats. They are one on the other on a small bookshelf where I keep all the French literature and Italian grammar, and me, I’m sitting in front of my PC and I look at them from time to time, because they make me feel good and they are all in a mess. All of them? Well, one of them is missing: the ivory panama hat I bought... in a motorway café (in summer, when you badly need a hat, you badly need a hat). Where can it be? I looked for it everywhere, I didn’t find it anywhere.
On a website about panama hats and hats in general (which sells night bonnets too! I forgot about their existence!), I read “the tissage of a good panama hat takes from three to six months” (well, the one from the motorway café must have been a fake).
Since a good panama hat not made in motorway is a must for every real hat-girl, I decided it will be my next buy. I imagine myself, with make-up, elegant with my panama hat, like on Eudoxie’s illustration: isn’t this girl adorable? Eudoxie and I agree: the panama hat is illustrationgenic.

Uno di questi giorni, dovrei mostrarvi tutti i miei cappelli. Sono gli uni sugli altri su una piccola libreria dove si trova della letteratura francese e della grammatica italiana, ed io, seduta davanti al computer, getto loro un’occhiata ogni tanto, perché mi fanno prendere bene e sono tutti accatastati proprio a casaccio. Tutti? No: uno di loro manca all'appello: il panama avorio comprato... in un autogrill (in estate quando c'è urgenza di cappello, c'è urgenza di cappello). Ma dove sarà finito? Cercato dappertutto, trovato in nessuna parte.
Su un sito sui panama e i cappelli in generale (che vende anche le cuffie da notte! Mi ero dimenticata della loro esistenza!), ho letto "il tissage di un buon panama prende tre a sei mesi" (beh, quello dell'autogrill sarà stato un falso).
Siccome un buon panama non made in autogrill è indispensabile ad ogni ragazza da cappello che si rispetta, ho deciso che sarà il mio prossimo acquisto. Mi vedo bene, truccata ed elegante con il mio panama, come sull'illustrazione di Eudoxie: questa ragazza non è irresistibile? Eudoxie ed io siamo d'accordo: il panama è illustratogenico.

La Gatta con gli stivali
... and l’armadio with her new Chie Mihara shoes!
... e l'armadio con le sue nuove scarpe Chie Mihara!
I said: “Chie Mihara, it’s my favourite brand together with Repetto”. And my sister answered: but, we two own ten Repetto pairs (well, yes, but I’ll come back on this another tome), and only one Chie Mihara. That’s not good!
I don’t know how do you interpret my sister’s answer, but I understood I had to buy nine Chie Mihara pairs.
Vade retro, o sister, you are the Temptator (even when you don’t do it on purpose).
Here you are then the first pair of a long series of Chie Mihara shoes, flat ones this time! Well, since I have to find nine pairs, it’s better to start with flat ones (these ones too were beautiful), and then we’ll go on with heels (these will be the next ones; and these ones on sale too), so I’ll beceome L’armadio in wonderland with Chie Mihara shoes everywhere. After that, I’ll start a new shoes collection (shoes collectionist, that’s the job I’ll do when I grow older), and I’ll buy 10 pairs of Miss L Fire, and then ten pairs of Salvatore Sapena. Talking about ten, La Gatta con gli stivali, the so chic and so retro online shop from where my shoes come, keeps only ten pieces for any model: no collegue with the same shoes!
I’ll lend them to my sister anyway because I’m kind.

Avevo dichiarato: "Chie Mihara, è la mia marca preferita insieme a Repetto". E mia sorella mi aveva risposto: però in due abbiamo dieci paia di Repetto (eh sì... ne riparlerò), e un solo paio di Chie Mihara. Non va!
Non so come interpretate la risposta di mia sorella, ma io ho capito che dovevo comprare nove paia di Chie Mihara.

Ecco quindi il paio numero uno di una lunghissima serie di Chie Mihara, piatte questa volta! Beh sì, dato che ne devo trovare nove paia, cominciamo con delle piatte (anche queste altre mi piacevano), e poi continueremo con dei tacchi (queste saranno le prossime. Ma anche queste in saldi), insomma, diventerò L'armadio al paese delle meraviglie con delle Chie Mihara dovunque. Dopo mi lancierò in un'altra collezione di scarpe (collezionista di scarpe, il mestiere che farò da grande), e comprerò 10 paia di Miss L Fire e poi 10 paia di Salvatore Sapena. A proposito di 10, La Gatta con gli stivali, la boutique online così chic e così retro da cui vengono le mie scarpe (e che vende un sacco di altre marche), tiene al massimo 10 pezzi per ogni modello: niente collega con le stesse scarpe!
Le presterò comunque a mia sorella perché sono gentile.

Of course I knew my size for this brand (Chie Mihara has “normal” sizes), and I knew they wouldn’t hurt my feet (my two favourite brands are the ones that less hurt feet). We must say La Gatta con gli stivali is really kind, and if you do not like something, you can have a free substitution: they just send you a shipper to get the item back, and they send you another one, or they refund you. Besides, they answer to all the questions you might ask and give you dressing advidces, good advices indeed!And me, I still go around flooded rice fields: aren’t they beautiful? The first time I crossed them, on a train between Bologna and France, I thought there must have been a real flood: I had never seen a rice field in my life! If I knew I would have ended up in Piedmont...I can say I see rice fields, and mosquitos too (and I don’t eat frogs).

Ma sapete che queste sono le prime scarpe che ho preso online in vita mia? Ovviamente sapevo la mia taglia per questa marca (Chie Mihara taglia "normalmente"), e sapevo che non mi avrebbero fatto male ai piedi (le mie due marche preferite sono anche le marche che meno fanno male ai piedi). Bisogna dire che La Gatta con gli stivali è gentile gentile, e che se qualcosa non ti piace, te lo cambia gratis: manda un corriere a casa a ritirare l'articolo e te ne manda un altro o ti rimborsa. Inoltre risponde a tutte le domande e dà dei consigli di abbinamento, anzi degli ottimi consigli!
Ed io me ne vado ancora e sempre in giro fra le risaie innondate: non sono stupende? La prima volta che le ho attraversate, sul treno fra Bologna e la Francia, ho pensato che c'era stato un allagamento: non avevo mai visto delle risaie in vità mia! Se avessi saputo che sarei finita in Piemonte... Di risaie ne vedo, e di zanzare pure (e non mangio le rane)

My blog is carbon neutral !
Foto da Etsy, The Clothes Horse, What I Wore, 7 heures du mat, e L'armadio ai Kew Gardens!A blog with 15,000 visits a month has a yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 8lb, Christin from the German site Mach's grün (Make it green) wrote me.
My conscience and I weren’t so happy to discover we are polluting the Earth for a blog which seems so innocent! We had to make something!
So the Make it green program, in collaboration with Arbor Day Foundation, is planting trees in the Plumas National Forest, in the north of California, in order to neutralize the carbon footprint of blogs. Part of the forest has been destroyed from successive fires in these ten last years, and they need the support of bloggers all over the world in order to replanting the trees. Since a tree absorbs 11lb of carbon dioxide every year, it’s sufficient to plant only one tree to make a blog carbon neutral. Good!
And how can you plant a tree for your blog? You just need to write a post about the initiative and insert the button “my blog is carbon neutral”, email the link to your post to CO2-neutral@kaufda.de et voilà! They'll plant a tree for your blog!

Un blog che riceve 15000 visite al mese ha un'emissione annuale di diossido di carbonio di 3,6 chili, mi ha scritto Christin, del sito tedesco Mach's grün, Make it green.
La mia buona coscienza ed io non eravamo molto contente di scoprire che stavamo inquinando il pianeta per un blog a prima vista così innocente! Bisognava reagire!
Appunto il programma Make it green in collaborazione con Arbor Day Foundation pianta degli alberi nella Plumas National Forest, al nord della California, nello scopo di neutralizzare l'impronta dei blog sull'ambiante. Parte della foresta è stata distrutta da successivi incendi in questi dieci ultimi anni, e hanno pensato di chiedere l'aiuto ai blogger del mondo intero per ripiantare gli alberi. Siccome un albero assorbe 4,95 chili di diossido di carbonio ogni anno, basta piantarne uno solo per rendere un blog "neutro". Meno male!
E come si fa a fare piantare un albero per il proprio blog? Basta scrivere un post con link all'iniziativa e inserire il logo "my blog is carbon neutral", mandare il link al tuo post a CO2-neutral@kaufda.de et voilà! Pianteranno un albero in più!

T-Post, the world's first wearable magazine
L’armadio too has got a book to show, in order to salute the Book fair of her city: the T-post t-shirt, that you read first and then you wear (on the reverse side, so the article cannot be seen).
Just subscribe, and receive a new T-post each month: a text on one side, and a drawing (related to the article) on the other side. Isn’t it smart?
As you can see above, I got involved in reading an article concerning death penalty costs, which are very high: three times a life imprisonment! Death penalty, a punishment only prosperous countries can afford?
Here we are not joking: the shirt has a chief editor, a writer, and has a label on it saying “52% news, 48% cotton”.

Anche L'armadio ha un libro da presentare per salutare il Salone del libro nella sua città: la maglietta T-post, che prima leggi, poi indossi (a rovescio, che così non si vede l'articolo).
Basta abbonarsi per ricevere il nuovo T-post ogni mese: un testo da una parte, e un disegno (in tema con l'articolo) dall'altra. Non è un concetto geniale?
Come potete vedere qui sopra, mi sono lanciata nella lettura di un articolo sul costo della pena di morte, che è elevatissimo: tre volte il costo dell'ergastolo! La pena di morte, una punizione che un paese si può permettere solo nei periodi di prosperità?
Qui non scherziamo: la maglietta ha un capo-editore, uno scrittore, ed ha indicato sopra 52% news, 48%cottone.
