Many Belles Down

Take some vintage prints, add some modern elements, realize a film in collaboration with YAK films (look at here to make yourself an idea of their job), here is Many Belles Down, a brand that arrives from Oakland and that it is my new favourite since I know it (yesterday).
Who would have thought that retro style matches so well with the urban one?

I did a terrible thing! / Ho fatto una cosa terribile!

Look at what I'm wearing! The Prohibited Item, number 1 in the list of the clothes Mr. del Delitto hate, to which I renounced last year in Aix-en-Provence because he had a much too disgusted face !

The parka.

The worst is that I bought it during my last holiday in France, where I was without Mr. del Delitto, who therefore has been put in front of the accomplished fact! Also my mum, in front of my purchase, has exclaimed: oh my god, but what will Mr. del Delitto say?

Guardate cosa sto indossando! Il Capo Vietato, il numero 1 nella lista dei capi odiati dal signore del delitto al quale avevo rinunciato l'anno scorso a Aix-en-Provence perché lui faceva una faccia troppo disgustata!

Il parka.

Peggio, l'ho comprato durante la mia ultima vacanza in Francia dove stavo senza il signore del delitto, il quale è quindi stato messo davanti al fatto compiuto! Anche la mamma, davanti al mio acquisto, si è esclamata: oddio, ma che cosa dirà il signore del delitto?

Let's return on the facts of past 31th March.

The store: Kiabi, the last place about which you would have thought, true? Nonetheless I find a lot of truly beautiful things (in fact also I bought two delicious skirts).

The price: 39,90 euros. Even if Mr. del Delitto had an allergy, it would not have been a tragedy.

The cut: feminine, exactly like I was looking for (the good excuse to buy the prohibited item).

The reaction Mr. Del delitto: oh I didn't show the parka immediately returning to house, I didn't want to start him off! After a few, I said shily: hem I bought this, it's pretty, isn't it? At first he said: hiiii a parka, then he has confessed that I look good with it, indeed he has confessed that it appealed to it! He seemed sincere! And then what have I done? I have put nearly every day from a month!

In the photos, here I am on Easter in a flea market in which we are ended by chance while we were taking a walk along the lake. I always end up in flea markets, is my destiny. It is not an adorable place?

Torniamo sui fatti del 31 marzo scorso.

Il negozio: Kiabi, l'ultimo posto al quale avreste pensato, vero? E invece si trovano un sacco di cose veramente belle (infatti ho anche comprato due gonne deliziose).

Il prezzo: 39,90 euro. Anche se al signore del delitto fosse venuta l'allergia non sarebbe stata una tragedia.

Il taglio: femminile, esattamente come cercavo (la buona scusa per comprare il capo vietato).

La reazione del signore del delitto: oh non gli ho mostrato subito il parka tornando a casa, non ho gusto della provocazione! Dopo un po' ho detto timidamente: hem ho comprato questo, mi sta bene, no? L'interessato ha prima urlato: hiiii un parka, poi ha confessato che mi stava bene, anzi ha confessato che gli piaceva! Sembrava sincero! E allora cosa ho fatto? L'ho messo quasi tutti i giorni da un mese!

Nelle foto, eccomi il giorno di Pasqua in un mercatino nel quale siamo finiti per caso mentre stavamo passeggiando lungo il lago. Finisco sempre nei mercati delle pulci, è il mio destino. Non è un posto adorabile?

The monday's chicken / La gallina del lunedì

… shouldn’t it be the Sunday’s cat? No!

The cat is much too popular, much too democratic, well it’s not avant-garde enough! Now the pet you must own to be hype is the chicken!

Some months ago, on The Selby, I discovered Annie (first picture), an urban farmer in Brooklyn, with this splendid red dress and a chicken in her arms. In Brooklyn!

Then a few days ago on Closet Visit, I have seen the photo of Claire Cottrell, a young film director, in her Los Angeles garden with a beautiful white chicken (second picture). Oh! I said to myself. In my garden too, from time to time, my neighbour’s fuggitive chickens appear! I'm hype without being it on purpose.

The New York Times too talks about “chick pets”: in the third picture Isabella with one of the two hens of the family to Manhattan.

Are you willing to adopt a chicken? Nogg proposes an house-egg (hehe) (via Design Sponge), while My Pet Chicken proposes a chicken’s garment really pretty. Here is a video that will convince you that the chicken goes fashionable: Tori Spelling too walks around with her chicken!

… non doveva essere il gatto della domenica? Errore!

Il gatto è troppo popolare, troppo democratico, insomma non abbastanza all'avanguardia! Ora l'animale che bisogna avere per essere hype è la gallina!

Qualche mese fa, su The Selby, ho scoperto Annie (prima foto), urban farmer a Brooklyn, con questo splendido vestito rosso e una gallina in braccia. A Brooklyn!

Poi poco fa su Closet Visit, ho visto la foto di Claire Cottrell, giovane regista, nel suo giardino di Los Angeles con una bella gallina bianca (seconda foto). Oh! Ho pensato. Anche nel mio giardino ogni tanto ci sono le galline fuggitive del mio vicino di casa! Sono hype senza farlo apposta.

Anche su The New York Times si parla di “chick pets”: nella terza foto Isabella con una delle due galline della famiglia a Manhattan.

Siete tentati di adottare una gallina? Nogg propone una casa-uovo (hehe) (via Design Sponge), mentre My Pet Chicken propone un vestito per gallina molto carino. Qui anche un video che vi convincerà che la gallina va di moda: pure Tori Spelling se ne va in giro per la strada con la sua gallina!

Les dessins aux ciseaux

I like the découpage-collage side of this summer's fashion. It seems they cut flat-tint-colored sheets and then glue them together. There's something clean in there, very structured, like a Matisse. It's fresh and happy, but urban too.

Have you seen the exquisite corpse on Prada's site? The brand exploits the découpage tendency gluing back together clothes that are striped too and “cut out”. I liked them immediately.

Mi piace il lato découpage-collage della moda di quest'estate. Sembra che vengano ritagliati dei fogli colorati, un colore applicato con una tinta uniforme, e che vengano poi incollati insieme. Ha un che di pulito, molto strutturato, come un Matisse. E' fresco ed allegro, ma allo stesso tempo cittadino.

Avete visto i cadaveri eccellenti sul sito di Prada? La marca sfrutta la tendenza del découpage re-incollando insieme dei vestiti anch'essi a righe e “ritagliati”. Mi sono piaciuti immediatamente.

For what concerns retro brands as I like, it's Orla Kiely the winner of the découpage prize: look at these particulars, the pockets, the buttons, I like them so much I bought the book.

Per quanto riguarda le marche retro come piacciono a me, è Orla Kiely a vincere la palma del découpage: guardate questi particolari, le tasche, i bottoni, mi piacciono così tanto che ho comprato il libro.

My last discovery is Covherlab of the cerebral Marco Grisolia (yes, that's how I find him) (anyway Vogue too agrees), a collection that, according to him, is “is fresh like mint but silent and profound like a Takeshi Kitano's poem”. Irresistible!

Ma la mia ultima scoperta, è Covherlab, del cerebrale Marco Grisolia (beh sì lo trovo cerebrale) (d'altronde anche Vogue la pensa come me), una collezione che secondo lui “rimane fresca come menta ma silenziosa e profonda come una poesia di Takeshi Kitano”. Irresistibile!

Back to the future

When she watches old photos, Irina Werning always imagines how people would look like today in the same photos. So she decided to try the experiment, and she invited some people to go back to their future.

I don't know why these photos are so impressive: for the curiosity? The fascination of the time that passes? The homesicknes? The humour? Despite the put on, the game, I see a certain humility, a “this is me, nothing more” that’s touching.

Quando guarda delle vecchie foto, Irina Werning immagina sempre come sarebbero le persone fotografate oggi nelle stesse foto. Così ha deciso di tentare l'esperimento, ed ha invitato diverse persone ad andare indietro nel loro futuro.

Non so perché queste foto catturino così tanto lo sguardo: per la curiosità? Il fascino del tempo che passa? La nostalgia? L'umorismo? Nonostante la messa in scena, il gioco, ci vedo una certa umiltà, un “questo sono io, tutto qui” toccante.

There has been 14 of you who matched the purse Mini Nuvola with the dress Orgoglio e Pregiudizio, but it's this delicious Ottavia's comment that struck me: compliments Ottavia (moreover she has one of most beautiful blogs I know)!

The fact everyone talks about color block doesn't mean you cannot dress in anthracite; and the fact you're under a flowering cherry tree doesn't mean you cannot wear a leather jacket; and the fact my closet is full of clothes doesn't mean I cannot steal other people's ones (yes, all you see in this picture has been stolen to my family, like every time I go see them in France (I tried to steal the cat too, but he didn't agree). So, L'armadio is a rebel! But then, being a rebel in fashion means not being fashionable ? With a fashion blog to care about? Fashion is the anti-rebellion par-excellence? Oh la la, I'm complicated! Anyway, isn't my mother's Maylily necklace wonderful?

Non è perché si parla solo di color block che non ci si può vestire di antracite; e non è perché si sta sotto un ciliegio fiorito che non si può indossare una giacca di pelle; e non è perché il mio armadio è strapieno di vestiti che non posso rubare quelli degli altri (sì, tutto ciò che vedete su questa foto è rubato alla famigliola, come ogni volta che vado a trovarla in Francia) (ho anche provato a rubare il gatto, ma non era d'accordo). Insomma L'armadio è una ribelle! Ma allora, essere ribelle in moda, vuol dire non essere alla moda? Con un blog di moda da curare? La moda è l'anti-ribellione per eccellenza? Oh la la, sono complicata! Però quant'è bella la collana Maylily di mia mamma!

How do you feel about the 70s revival?

I reacted this way:

1) Oh, no, the tidy-lady-of-the-fifties-clothes are much more elegant!

2) Eh oh, it took some months and a certain amount of money in order to create a wardrobe like Mad Men, and now I have to start again with another decade (it took me 15 years more than the other ones to understand fashion’s principles, me).

3) Hoho, in vintage shops there are more 70s things than 50s!

4) Hohoho, in the closet of the mother del delitto, there still are lots of 70s clothes for free longing to have a second life!

5) Ah, look, in this shop, some Swedish Hasbeens! As soon as I got in, I had already bought them (you know me, I already had bought another pair of shoes half an hour ago!), and my mother said: how funny! We all had the same clogs when we were 20 years old.

70s, I wait for you!

Che effetto vi fa il revival 70'?

Io ho reagito così:

1) Ah no, gli anni 50 signora-per-bene sono molto più eleganti!

2) Eh oh, ci ho messo diversi mesi e un patrimonio per farmi il guardaroba di Mad Men, e ora mi tocca ricominciare con un altro decennio (ci ho messo 15 anni in più degli altri a capire il principio della moda, io).

3) Hoho, ma nei negozi vintage, ci sono molte più cose anni 70 di anni 50!

4) Hohoho, nell'armadio della mamma del delitto, ci sono un sacco di vestiti anni 70 gratis che mi stanno dicendo ooh dammi una seconda vita!

5) Ah però, qui nella boutique, delle Swedish Hasbeens! Appena entrata, già comprate (mi conoscete, avevo già comprato un altro paio di scarpe mezz'ora prima), e la mamma ha detto: che buffo! Avevamo un po' tutti gli stessi clogs quando avevo 20 anni.

Ecco anni 70, vi aspetto!

P-s: for the ones among you that are curious, the boutique where I bought my Hasbeens is Nyack, based in Lyon, these shoes are super comfortable and give you the impression not to walk on heels, I chose the skin-coloured open ones, that become darker thanks to the sun (they bronze).

P-S: per le curiose, la boutique dove ho comprato le Hasbeen è Nyack, a Lione, queste scarpe sono comodissime e vi danno l'impressione di camminare senza tacchi, io ho scelto quelle aperte color pelle, che diventano più scure poco a poco grazie al sole (si abbronzano).
