This year, winter lasted a week, but how it was beautiful! As soon as I took some pictures, the rime melted.

Quest’anno l’inverno vero è durato una settimana, ma che bellezza! Ho appena avuto il tempo di fare qualche foto in giardino, e tutto il giacchio si era fuso.

There is something I’ll never understand: why in these times we don’t use hats in winter. It’s as intelligent as going out without socks, don’t you think? I say that, but most of the time, I go out without a hat (and with a cold), while in ten years, I’ve never seen my friend Sasà with nothing on his head. He’s right! And then, look at every kind of hat the 20th century created! I’m voting for the return of the systematic warm hat!

Se c’è una cosa che non capirò mai della nostra epoca, è perché ce ne andiamo in giro a testa nuda in inverno. E’ furbo quanto uscire senza calze, non trovate? Detto questo, anch’io la maggior parte del tempo esco senza cappello (e con un raffreddore), mentre in 10 anni non ho mai visto il mio amico Sasà con la testa scoperta in inverno. Ha ragione lui! E poi guardate tutte le mode di cappelli che il secolo scorso ha conosciuto! Voto per il ritorno del cappello-caldo sistematico!

So here I am with the faux fur hat my grandma used to wear going to church every Sunday (with a beautiful coat and a chic dress, I have to find some picture!), and which risked to end up badly in an alcoholic student party (the hat, not the grandma) (one of my first posts – in Italian). Matched to my mum’s warm and vintage cardigan, here I am… looking for my cat (I eventually found her).

It has nothing to do with this, but a message for those who want normal but perfect jeans (the “normal but perfect” is so rare!): these are from Rifle, and they are perfectly cut, with perfect pockets and a perfect color.

Dunque qui sto con un cappello di falsa pelliccia che mia nonna metteva ogni domenica per andare a messa (con un bel cappotto ed un vestito bene, devo assolutamente ritrovare delle foto!), e che ha rischiato di finire male in una festa di studenti alcolizzati tre anni fa (il cappello, non la nonna) (uno dei miei primi post!) Abbinato al cardigan caldo e vintage di mia mamma, eccomi… alla ricerca del gatto (l’ho ritrovato).

Non c’entra, ma messaggio a chi cerca dei jeans normali ma perfetti (il normale ma perfetto è così raro!): questi sono un modello di Rifle, e sono tagliati come si deve, con le tasche come si deve, il colore scuro come si deve.

Borse di lavoro Bleu de Chauffe

I am a little busy at the moment (and I have to comfort my little cat who was assaulted by the Big Bad Cat of the neighbourhood), but I have found traditional working bags made by artisans from the Aveyron (in the deepest France). For instance, a plumber’s bag.

In French, the “bleu de chauffe” was the blue jacket worn by the locomotive driver, and by extension every artisan’s clothing. They also had a shoulder bag for their tools, which explain the brand’s name (I never thought the locomotive drivers’ cloth had a name).

Sono un po’ occupata in questi giorni (e in più devo consolare la mia povera gattina che è stata aggredita dal Grosso Gatto Cattivo del quartiere), ma lo stesso vi ho trovato delle borse la lavoro tradizionali fatte da artigiani dell’Aveyron (nel più profondo della Francia). Tipo borsa da idraulico per esempio.

In francese, il “bleu de chauffe” era la giacca blu che indossava il conducente della locomotiva, e per estensione anche i vestiti degli artigiani, elettricisti, idraulici, e così via. Portavano con sé anche una borsa per metterci i loro attrezzi, il che spiega il nome della marca (personalmente non avevo mai pensato che i vestiti dei conducenti di locomotiva avessero un nome).

Tre anni fa, ho avuto la strana idea di creare questo blog, un po’ per distrarmi (lavoravo per una rivista sportiva) e molto per costringermi a scrivere in italiano (prima ero analfabeta. The days are so short in December! And yet the afternoons confused with night are fascinating, and here I am at 4.30 PM with sunglasses, surprised by dusk arrived without notice. Rosaspina, with which I was going to have a cup of tea (with a great pear-chocolate cake), found this amusing and photographed me in the Crocetta, a beautiful place in Turin.

Quanto sono corti i giorni in dicembre! Eppure hanno fascino i pomeriggi che si confondono con le notti, ed eccomi alle 16.30 con gli occhiali da sole, sorpresa dal crepuscolo arrivato senza preavviso. Rosaspina, con la quale stavo andando a prendere un té (con un'enorme torta pera-cioccolato), l’ha trovato divertente e mi ha fotografata nel bel quartiere della Crocetta, a Torino.

In these times I am in vintage from tip to toe, I'll tell you more on thursday. By the way next week end (friday-saturday-Sunday) there is the Padova Vintage Festival: it will not only be a market (that it is already not bad) but also a workshop, several expositions, a film festival, concerts and events among which a fashion show (here are some photos). It sounds fantastic. The program here. In questi tempi sono nel vintage fino al collo, vi racconterò perché giovedì. A questo proposito questo prossimo week end (venerdì-sabato-domenica) si svolge il Padova Vintage Festival: non sarà solo una mostra mercato (il che già non è male) ma anche dei workshop, mostre, film festival, concerti ed eventi vari di cui una sfilata di cui ecco un assaggio in foto. Sembra fantastico. Il programma qui.
